FIGURE DRAWING
This webpage features selected artwork created by students in my Figure Drawing class at Ohio University.
Project 1: Gesture Drawings
Project Description: We explore the human form beyond mere representation to examine its swift, dynamic movements. Participants will create rapid, expressive line works using their understanding of anatomy and proportions. Utilizing vine charcoal on newsprint paper is recommended for this exercise, allowing for a nuanced and responsive approach to the medium. The deliberate exclusion of an eraser encourages a commitment to each stroke, fostering a mastery of precision and spontaneity.

Project 4: Hands and Feet Drawing
Project Description: Learners embark on a focused and challenging exploration of the intricacies of depicting hands and feet in this project. Recognized as among the most nuanced aspects of the human form, mastering the various gestures these extremities can exhibit requires dedicated practice. We will delve into an in-depth study of hands and feet, recognizing their unique anatomical characteristics. Through hands-on exercises, students sketch their own hands from multiple angles. Additionally, the class will draw a model's feet, providing an opportunity for collective learning and observation.
